Candace, Founder/Director of Positive Learning Experiences
Candace is the Founder and Director of PLE. She has been a private tutor since 1990. Through her experience as a Home and Hospital Teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools and as a former member of the tutoring staff at The Lab School of Washington, D.C, Candace has become familiar with the core curriculum at private and public schools in Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. During past summers, Candace worked on study skills at the Norwood School.
She earned her BS in Special Education at The University of Maryland in 1978, emphasizing elementary, middle, and high school instructional methods. She later earned her MA with Honors in Special Education at George Washington University in 1981, emphasizing Vocational Education, Middle and High School Special Needs Students, Mainstreaming, Educational Testing, and Advocacy Training. She also has over 120 Continuing Education Credits to refine her skills as an education specialist and ADHD coach. Candace is also an Academic Coach, working with students to ensure their success in the classroom!
Other achievements include: Individual Education Consultant Association Training for School Placement; Parent Association Coordinator, The McLean School, where she planned curriculums, fundraisers, and social functions; and coordinating seminars for the Council of Exceptional Children at the Intern-National Advocacy Organization. Candace works with our students in need of coaching in executive function. For students with ADHD or any special learning needs, this coaching supplements their subject area help and is imperative to their success. Candace works with students in Special Education, from elementary school through college. She also works with adults.

Sara, Assistant Director/Academic Coach
Sara is the Assistant Director of Positive Learning Experiences, working with students and parents to ensure success in school! Sara has her BS in Psychology from University of Maryland, University College. She is looking to get her Masters in Elementary Education/Special Education in the next year. She works with students of all ages in Math, Science, Social Studies, English and SAT/ACT prep.
Eran is a licensed math and physics teacher and has been tutoring and teaching for more than 15 years. He has taught in the US and abroad, at every level from elementary school children to adults. He has taught test-prep, physics, math, and philosophy. Eran has taught in the Montgomery County Public School system and is familiar with their science and math curriculums.
Laura was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She moved to the United States at the age of 14, where she settled in Miami, Florida. She just recently moved to Maryland, where she is majoring in elementary education. Teaching is her passion! She hopes she can be of great help to our students who need it! She can tutor Spanish, Algebra, and Geometry!
Sid is from Silver Spring, Maryland. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 with a M.S. in bioengineering. He has tutored math and science in high school and college. In his free time, Sid enjoys basketball and soccer.
Kalman is a graduate of Duke University with degrees in Linguistics and Russian. He is an experienced math, test-prep and foreign language tutor. He enjoys helping students find their own understanding of curriculum material to help build real knowledge. In his free time, Kalman enjoys writing computer code and playing his cello.
